RAINBOW SIX SIEGE CROSSPLAY UPDATE
There are also a bunch of new fixes coming to the game in its new North Star update which you can view below. It can be tricky deciding which one to progress further on so this definitely helps to lessen the headache. These new features are sure to be a game-changer as if you’re like me, you may own Siege on multiple platforms. That’s not all though, as in Q1 2022 Xbox and PlayStation players will also be given these features.

Siege will launch on Stadia on June 30th and from then on, Stadia, PC, and Luna players will be able to play each other plus progress their career throughout the 3. There have been over 70 million gamers who’ve played Siege since its launch, 5 years ago so this is a huge step in the right direction to give all of their players the best experience possible. Well, now the list of enemies has grown as Ubisoft announced yesterday at their Ubisoft Forward E3 event that crossplay and cross-progression between consoles are being implemented.

Cross-progression is a very positive addition to the game, as many people - even professional players - played ‘Siege’ for the first time on console, having many skins or charms there that cannot be purchased anymore. With it, comes its large fanbase of eager gamers ready to take on as much competition as possible. It will not be until 2022 when the most awaited change is confirmed, as crossplay will be available between PlayStation and XBOX, with cross-progression being able for all platforms. But, once it does, it would surely be a massive change to the game and something which would deeply affect the player base. It’s no secret that Rainbow Six: Siege has grown since its humble launch to its now eSports bonafide hit status. This will be a boon for those who own the game on both platforms, as they would not have to get the same thing on each platform individually.Ĭrossplay and cross-progression are in the works currently, and we have no exact release date or estimates as to when it will be implemented in the game.

But, if cross-progression gets implemented then the same can be done even with PC. Transfer of progress is already available from the previous generation consoles to the new-generation ones. As per multiple reports, Rainbow Six Siege players on Stadia are unable to play with those on other platforms like PC. However, Stadia users have been facing an issue with the crossplay functionality in Rainbow Six Siege. Also, the tactical shooter game arrived on Google Stadia pretty recently. If it gets implemented you would be able to share all your achievements, cosmetics, weapon skins, operator unlocks, etc. Rainbow Six Siege has been around for numerous platforms for quite some time.

So, cross-play with PC is something that is too early for the team to talk about right now.Ĭross-progression is much less complicated. Halle says while there are a lot of pros, there are a bit of cons too. However, that would then result in only mouse/keyboard players rising to the top. So, what Ubisoft can do is just make the game natively support the mouse, and keyboard on the console. One might make the argument that a mouse and keyboard can be made to work with consoles too. So, the PC players get a significant advantage. Unlike various other console games that have cross-play support, Rainbow Six: Siege does not have aim assist. However, when the PC gets in the equation, then you need to account for mouse and keyboard. In consoles, there would not be much of a handicap, as both Xbox and PlayStation users would be using controllers for the most part. However, he is pretty skeptical about PC entering the crossplay.

He even gave an example of Asian regions, where the player base for PlayStation is substantially more than that of Xbox. It would result in shorter matchmaking times, specifically in those regions where the player count for a specific console is kind of low. He also added that it would be great if PlayStation players and Xbox players could play together. He said that crossplay and cross-progression is something that the team is working actively on.

In a recent preview event for Year 6 Season 1 Crimson Heist, the director of the game, Jean-Baptiste Halle talked about crossplay and cross-progression for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege. In one of those changes is the addition of crossplay and cross-progression. But, there are a hell of lot of other changes too. Not only are we getting lots of new content, such as new operators, maps, weapons, etc. Rainbow Six: Siege is currently about to enter its Year 6, and lots of changes have been planned by Ubisoft for this very successful tactical FPS game. For those of you who are unaware, crossplay is a feature that allows players of a game, on one platform like PC, to be able to play with other players from different platforms such as PlayStation. Crossplay is something that quite a number of games are getting these days.
